Table Mountain cableway information:

The Table Mountain cableway trip usually forms part of a Cape Town city tour. It is an optional extra that is not included in the price. The ascent of Table Mountain in the cable car is weather dependant as strong winds and clouds on the top of the mountain result in closure of the cableway. For this reason the trip cannot be booked or included as a definite in a tour.

The first car up is at 08:00 in summer and 08:30 in winter and continues untill the last car down at the end of the day or if the weather causes closure. The last car down varies between 21:30 in summer and 18:00 in winter.

The cable way has been in operation since 1929, and uses a round revolving cabin allowing passengers a 360-degree panoramic view.

At the top of Table Mountain there is a restaurant, which offers full breakfast, hot meals and a salad bar.
